This position is essential to develop and manage the complex server infrastructure needed to support our rapidly surging user base. You will play a lead role in architecting Pixable's systems infrastructure and designing processes that scale to support millions of users of products that drive highly complex database call and rendering requirements. The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a fluid start-up environment and will bring an energetic, fun and creative approach to their work. It will be a mixture of Backend and Application development. We're a small team, so the more hats you can wear the better. This job will be based in our headquarters in SoHo, New York City. • Design and manage back-end software components critical to maintaining and scaling Pixable services as the company grows to support millions of additional users
• Help architect and manage Pixable infrastructure and databases, identify areas for improvement and proactively monitor and manage cloud server environments
• Design and implementation of production and test environments for pixable products
• Develop systems and processes to automate server deployment and other infrastructure scaling requirements
• Monitor overall site performance, stability, and health.

SKILLS

• 3 years experience working on a high volume website
• Fluent in PHP, Linux, and MySQL
• Strong communication skills
• A history working in a cache-heavy environment required
• An unhealthy obsession with building efficient, clean, and modular code and data structures
• An innate understanding of the issues surrounding large-volume websites and scalability
• Experience creating scrapers and dealing with massive amounts of data
• Experience with HTML/CSS/Javascript is a huge plus
• Experience with EC2/S3

Pixable is looking for smart, energetic Web/Graphic Designers to become part of their talented creative team! Both full-time and intern positions are available.

As a designer at the Pixable NYC office you will be responsible for continually improving the look and feel of our site and helping manage our visual identity. We're constantly developing new products (iPad apps, Facebook apps, new physical products, etc.) so you will help design these along with any PR related material including e-newsletters and ads. Our designers work within teams of other designers, programmers, and product managers so being a team player is must. Our environment is very fun and dynamic, so we're looking for someone who fits in and is adaptable and willing to take on any challenge with a positive attitude.

SKILLS

• Must be a great designer with superior knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, HTML, CSS and Dreamweaver.

• Front end development experience and design
• Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography & limitations of the web
• Nice to have: Actionscript 2 and 3, object-oriented programming, Memory optimization, JavaScript/Flash bridging, Cross-browser compatibility
• Strong communication, time management, attention to detail, and ability to assist other team members in problem solving
• Knowledge of Flash is a plus

This is a front-end/user experience developer role at Pixable, a rapidly-growing startup that is changing the game in the personalized photo books / photo products market. We love to see candidates who have worked on impressive web applications of which they can also show examples. We favor candidates who can show us they have a keen product sense and will contribute good ideas for improving the product. The person in this role will be in charge of balancing innovative new features with performance and speed for an optimal user experience, as well as constantly thinking of creative paths for the future of Pixable, generating feature ideas, and implementing them.

• Expert knowledge of XML/HTML/DHTML/CSS with focus on cross-browser compatibility and semantic markup.

• Experience in a rapid prototyping environment.
• Must have experience with Web 2.0 technologies and previous User Experience projects.
