Senior Flex Software Engineer (Director of Software Development)
DESCRIPTION

Pixable is a recently funded MIT startup that just relocated to New York City (SoHo). Pixable wants to be the top of mind company when it comes to your photos and your social graph. We currently offer a collaborative photobook creation platform that allows you to create photobooks with all the photos and content you can see on Facebook (your photos, your friend's photos, photo comments, status updates, etc) and combine that with content on Picasa, Flickr, Photobucket or your hardrive. We later print it and send it to you. This is only the beginning: We have further products in the pipeline with proprietary technology. Stay tuned for innovative digital and mobile products related to your photos and your social graph. The team is still small and young and you will have a huge impact in our strategy and product.

The ideal engineer will have experience with Flex, Action Script 3, XML, Linux, mySQL, PHP and/or Ajax. In addition, she/he may have notions of computer graphics, image handling, manipulation, and processing.



RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Launch new products, features and improvements to Pixable's core flex platform
  • Work directly with the team located in NYC.
  • Propose ideas, be creative, translate ideas into product specs (mock ups, designs, usability tests, etc) and product management (break product into individual tasks, prioritize, set milestones, and supervise and report progress), management of external contractors (graphic designers, back end developers, etc.), and software coding.
  • Iteration of products (add/remove/modify features) based on usability tests and inbound marketing and analytics.
  • Have fun

 

SKILLS

  • Knowledge of Flash, Flex Builder and Action Script 3
  • Computer Science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, systems, web services, computer graphics, etc.)
  • Passion for software development in startup environments
  • Creativity
  • Knowledge of LAMP(Linux, Apach, MySQL and PHP)
  • Nice to have: computer graphics experience (rendering, rescaling, etc.).
  • Nice to have: Cocoa experience
  • Fast learning curve to understand how to integrate third party tools, e.g., we make extensive use of 3rd party APIs (Facebook Connect, XML, Picasa, Flickr, etc.)
  • Ability to work in teams and startup culture
